These repeating units are known as polymers and a single section is known as a monomer. The polymer for plastic is typically made of carbon, with the addition of hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and sulfur too.
Virgin (new) plastics are made from crude oil that's drilled from the land or the sea. This crude oil is first separated into its different parts and then convert some of the separated oil into plastic.
We can find plastic in almost everything we use: Plastic bottles, devices, furniture, even walls and clothes!
