Moderate Lifestyle

What is a moderate lifestyle

A moderate lifestyle is a lifestyle where everything you have, do, take, etc. are in the right quantities. Moderation is when you control and quantize the things you do in life so that you can live healthily and sustainably. In short, it’s trying to find the middle ground in life.

This isn’t easy to do, but by the end of this , you should be able to plan your weekend so that you don’t end up procrastinating the way I do.

(PS: I procrastinated writing this).

When you’re in school like I am, it would be incredibly difficult to lead a moderate life. Some tips to do so are:

  1. When you eat stuff that isn’t good for you- like chocolates and Oreos, eat less than you normally would. So if you had 4 bars of Kit Kat, eat 2 instead. If you had 6 Oreos, Have 3 instead. This is a way of eating moderately.
  2. Dedicate an hour to yourself for working out every day (I actually do this). This doesn’t mean you take it easy. Push yourself to be the best of your ability, go for a 15-minute run, just don’t spend all day in front of a laptop simply typing your life away.
  3. Celebrate the little things in life. Say you solved a really hard question in maths, don’t brush it off and start the next, celebrate it with a little 2-minute break! (and by little things in life, I mean the things you probably couldn’t do before.)

Work-Life Balance

What exactly is a work-life balance?

A work-life balance is having work and social life in the right ratios at all times (And no, this does not involve studying for 5 minutes and then taking a 5-hour break. That won’t get you anywhere).

A work-life balance is really important for good grades and a healthy lifestyle. Focusing on your academics like there’s no tomorrow is also not a solution. This could lead to the distancing and breaking of bonds and relationships between yourself and others who care for you. It would harm all of you.

Wondering how you can maintain this? Well, I’ve got you covered.

  1. Manage your time… or try to manage your time. Set up deadlines for yourself and remember to give yourself time to cool off as well.
  2. Be a high achiever, not a perfectionist. Focus on realistic but challenging goals and not unrealistic and impossible goals. An example would be when I decided to take 3 sciences in year 10. I ended up dropping the sciences I give a test for in MYP. I didn’t need it but I thought it would make a challenging school life. That didn’t exactly work out though.

Water

The main Problem in the uae.

Water.

An impossibly valuable resource, especially in our world today. Yet we, in the UAE, have one of the highest water consumption rates water per capita. Each resident uses about 550 liters of water a day… The national average is 170-300 liters. We’re using too much, don’t you think?

Water is an important aspect of our lives. It makes up over 70% of the human body, and yet there are thousands of people out there who do not have this simple resource.

“Why?”

You might ask... It’s simple.

Some people have too much, and others have too little. Rather than asking “why?” ask “how?”

“How can I help them?”

“How is what I do going to aid their recovery?”

“How can I persuade others to do the same?”

“How is a moderate life something that can help these people?”

Saving water is just about the easiest way to answer some of those questions. Some ways to do so are:

  1. Don’t leave the taps running just because you’re cold in the shower.
  2. Don’t throw your water away just because you couldn’t finish it or the temperature rose.
  3. Don’t brush this problem off like it’s nothing.

These are just some suggestions. Do what you want to do to make the impact you want to make.

Carpe Diem!
